I have a secret to share with you. It’s a secret I tell my younger nieces and nephews often.
I gently pull them close and softly say, “I have a secret.”
They lean in curious to hear my secret. A secret I’ve shared many times. And yet, every time I say “I have a secret” they wait with curiosity and anticipation like it’s the first time.
After I whisper the secret in their ear, they coyly smile and nuzzle their head on my shoulder.
Except for the 7 year old. She’s heard the secret for many years now. Sometimes she blurts it out before I can say it. Sometimes she says, “I know, I know” like an annoyed teenager. Every once in a great while she leans in with curiosity and anticipation like it’s the first time.
No matter what her response is, she says, “It’s the best secret.” And, she always coyly smiles looking deep into my eyes after I whisper a secret sweetness.
I agree with her. It’s the best secret to share and hear.
So, lean in because I have the best secret to tell you…
I love you!
Love you back
Love this! Love you too my dear friend.
