Natural Mystics: The muses of my daily rambling
Yesterday I walked to the local grocery store to get my beloved Amish milk with the cream on the top. I love local goods like this. The weather has warmed after a cold blast and snow earlier in the week. I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to be with this fall day.
The Midwestern seasons bring much uncertainty and change. The only certainty we have is winter is whispering to us these last days of fall. Every Midwesterner knows this.
Many fear and dread it. Few embrace and listen to it.
Snow, cold and shades of gray will fill the day. Our time to rest, reflect, recuperate.
Though I prefer warmer weather, I still find my way to the trails and beach at times. There’s a peace, silence and teaching a winter walk carries that can not be found any other time of year.
But, winter is not here. It only whispers.
Till then it’s time to embrace fall and be with the warm chilly days we have.
On my walk, I caught the cutest site out the corner of my eye. It was the tiniest pine cone I’ve ever seen. I had to stop and admire.
I know pine cones must start as little precious ones and mature into their full ripeness. And yet, I’ve never seen one.
I’m certain I’ve walked by these natural mystics many times over many seasons. Today was the day the lesson of unseen becoming seen was realized.
And that is the story of the spiritual seeker.
See the unseen.
